Characteristics
- thick (by heating the oil becomes liquid and can be used for massages)
- smells strongly of sulphur/garlic: mix with other base oils or aromatic oils before use (maximum 15% neem oil)
Neem oil is often used. Neem oil is used as a support against parasites in e.g. dogs. Neem oil and all essential oils are not suitable for cats. Neem oil is also used against mosquitoes in tropical countries. Neem oil is below 35 degrees more solid in structure. For good processing, it is best to put a bottle of Neem oil on the heater or in a pan with warm (not too hot) water.
Warnings:
- Only use neem oil externally and diluted.
- Keep out of reach of children and/or pets
- Neem oil solidifies below 22 degrees
- May cause occasional allergic reactions, when used externally it is generally well tolerated
- Neem oil is internally toxic to young children and infants. Do not use it on these children.
With dogs it can be applied as a supporting means against insects. Dilute the oil with 425ml water, 175ml (apple-) vinegar and 2 tablespoons Neem oil and put this in a bottle with a sprayer or spray gun. Spray this lightly on the coat and massage it a little. Do not spray into the eyes, nose or mouth.
