What is a tincture?
A tincture is an alcohol-based solution of various herbal extracts. These herbs are extracted from dried plants, shrubs, leaves, mushrooms, seeds, resin and flowers, among others. All valuable substances are manufactured by soaking them in pure, organic alcohol. The alcohol ensures that the active ingredients are properly extracted from the herbs and at the same time it functions as a preservative. Finally, the tincture is strained, leaving a powerful mother tincture.
Cat's claw
Cat's claw refers to the claw-like protrusions with which this plant attaches itself to trees. It is originally from the highlands of the Amazon jungle. Major constituents are alkaloids, polyphenols, phytosterols and glycosides.
Cape geranium
Pelargonium is derived from the Greek word "Pergos" or "Stork" and refers to the beak of the plant's seed capsules. The plant is native to South Africa. Major constituents are tannins, flavonoids and coumarin derivatives.
Black currant
The Latin name "Ribus nigrum" literally means black currant. This berry is native to Central and Eastern Europe. Major constituents are bioflavenoids, tannins, proanthocyanins and essential oils.
ABC herb
Spilanthes is derived from the Greek word "spilos" and "anthe," meaning spot and flower and refers to the type of flower that has a white flower head with black pollen. It is originally from topical areas in Africa and South America. Major constituents are alkylamides and alkaloids.
