Tips before you start!
If you’re making your own nut milk, there are a few things to keep in mind. Always soak the nuts for 9–12 hours before use. Making nut milk works best when you choose raw and unsalted nuts, rather than roasted or cooked nuts with a layer of salt.
If you’re using a blender or food processor, it’s important to pour the nut milk through the bag afterwards to get a smooth final result.
Start by soaking the nuts — do this the night before, because the nuts need to soak for at least 9–12 hours. This makes them soft enough to turn into milk.
Rinse the nuts well before processing. Blend the nuts in a food processor or blender and add water until you reach your desired consistency. The more nuts and the less water you use, the creamier the milk becomes.
When using a blender or food processor, pour the mixture through the nut milk bag and squeeze until only pulp and milk remain. Use the pulp in your breakfast the next day!
Finally, add something extra to flavor your milk. We chose ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a small splash of maple syrup.
