AH! TABLE! – Nigari Salt / Magnesium Chloride – 1000g
Nigari salt is a natural crystal of magnesium chloride. In the kitchen, it is used to coagulate soy milk and make tofu. It can also be used to create magnesium water/oil or as part of a magnesium treatment (under the guidance of a healthcare professional).
Nigari salt is an unrefined magnesium chloride crystal derived from a 'fossil' sea that covered part of the European continent 250 million years ago. This recently discovered deposit provides us with magnesium chloride gemstones from Western Europe for the first time.
Note: Even if hermetically sealed, nigari salt tends to form into a 'block'. To make it pliable again, it is advisable to leave the package open for a few hours in a place with normal humidity.
How to Make Cosmetic Magnesium Water/Oil:
-
Dissolve 1 part magnesium chloride in 1 part distilled water.
-
Boil the water, pour it over the magnesium chloride, and stir until fully dissolved.
-
Transfer the solution into a spray bottle.
Usage:
-
Test on a small patch of skin first; it may cause tingling or irritation. If so, dilute further (e.g., 1 part magnesium chloride to 10–20 parts water).
-
Spray the 'magnesium oil' (it feels oily but isn't) onto your body.
-
Leave it on, then apply lotion or cream, or rinse off after 20 minutes.
-
If applying to your face, it is recommended to rinse off after use.
Nigari salt is a natural source of magnesium chloride, traditionally used in Japanese tofu-making. It is also utilized in various wellness applications, such as creating magnesium oil for topical use. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting any new treatment regimen.
