La Droguerie Écologique Plant-Based Organic Soap Flakes – 1000 grams
These 100% plant-based soap flakes are ideal for making your own laundry detergent and liquid base soap. With just 1 kilogram of soap flakes, you can make up to 60 liters of liquid detergent and/or liquid soap.
This makes it not only very economical but also environmentally friendly. The soap cleans very effectively, and by adding essential oils, you can give your detergent your own personal scent. You can also use these flakes to make your own soap bars, for example by adding herbs, essential oils, and hydrosols.
An ecological and cost-effective way to do both hand and machine washing (up to 150 machine washes). These soap flakes are made entirely from plant-based oils derived from controlled organic farming (coconut and palm oil).
They are made in France and contain no additives, preservatives, or fragrances. Naturally hypoallergenic and containing natural glycerin, the flakes are especially suitable for delicate fabrics (such as silk, lingerie, and wool), as well as laundry for babies and people with allergies.
Good for 130 washes.
Here's a recipe to make your own laundry detergent – 2.5 liters for whites and 2.5 liters for colored laundry:
-
80 grams grated Marseille soap or soap flakes
-
40 grams washing soda (for whites)
-
5 liters boiling water
-
60 drops of essential oil
Boil 1 liter of water. Add the soap flakes and stir thoroughly. Keep stirring until all the soap has dissolved. Add another 4 liters of boiling water (you can use a clean bucket if you don’t have a pot big enough).
Pour half of the soapy mixture into another pot or bucket and add the washing soda to this half. Washing soda has a mild bleaching effect and is therefore suitable for white laundry.
Note: Older washing machines may still have aluminum parts, and soda can damage those. You can test with a magnet: if it sticks to the drum, it's stainless steel; if it doesn’t, it’s likely aluminum.
Let both mixtures cool overnight. The next day, you can add essential oil as desired—30 drops per 2.5 liters of detergent, or more if you want a stronger scent.

Lemon essential oil boosts the whitening and degreasing power of the liquid detergent, making it ideal for white laundry. You can also add a spoonful of oxygen bleach (e.g., from Ecover, available at organic shops) to enhance the whitening effect.
-
Eucalyptus oil is very suitable for bedding as it helps combat dust mites.
-
Lavender and Ylang Ylang essential oils are great if you want a more fragrant detergent.
If you have very sensitive skin, you can leave out the essential oils and make an unscented detergent. Alternatively, you can add a few drops of essential oil per load so you can vary the scent each time.
After resting overnight, your liquid detergent will have turned into a thick gel-like consistency. Stir it well (using a stick blender or wooden spoon) to remove any lumps and return it to a liquid state. Then pour it into clean, rinsed-out detergent bottles.
This unscented detergent is generally suitable for all types of laundry, both low and high temperatures. Use about one dosing cap per load.
Always shake well before use to dissolve any possible clumps.
